Canada’s Oldest Restaurant Chain Adds Vegan Beyond Burger
Starting April 15, Canada’s longest-running restaurant chain White Spot will add the vegan Beyond Burger patty to its menus in locations in Alberta and British Columbia. The patty can be ordered in place of meat in any menu item for an additional CAD $1.99 (USD $1.49) and will be featured in two menu items (which can be ordered vegan upon request): the Avocado Beyond Burger and the Southwest Power Bowl. “People often ask me how White Spot continues to grow and remain relevant after being in business for over 90 years,” White Spot President Warren Erhart said. “I tell them, it’s because we’ve never taken our success for granted. We take pride in having something on our menu for everyone and our new Beyond Meat menu items are an example of how our brand continues to respond to changing demographics, taste profiles, and menu trends.” Starting May 6, White Spot’s quick-service restaurant brand Triple O will also serve the Beyond Burger. The Beyond Burger entered in the Canadian fast-food restaurant sector by way of A&W Canada where it sold 90,000 burgers in just 72 hours.
